Food-borne illness outbreaks can be reduced when retail food establishments have certified food protection managers with the authority to direct and control food preparation and service, and South Carolina now requires this of all its retail food establishments.

Palmetto Food Safety exists to assist owners and operators with meeting this requirement by offering the ServeSafe® Manager Course. Palmetto Food Safety also seeks to assist with staff training by offering the ServeSafe® Food Handler Course.
